I strive for my work to be enjoyed and received purely for what it is as a whole. To be presented in a way that does not require an introduction through a concept or underlining purpose in order to be given meaning or even value. Although the importance of a grand/deeper meaning is heavily stressed upon, I find comfort in the simplistic honesty when greeted by artwork at face value. Available for interpretation to each their own.

I find that there are always subtle influences that are set in place, waiting to be found. My greatest influence is found through the ambience of sound. In everything from music soundtracks, to the underlining cello of an orchestrated piece. From the sounds that whales create, to the irregular sound of crunching leaves, I embrace the feeling or the story that is waiting to be told. The impact of a beat or willing personification of an instrument plays a great influential role when working on a project, and in turn ‘sets the stage’ for a cohesive and fluid outcome of an entertaining piece.

My style and chosen technique seen throughout my work is completely pulled from the fact that I am a traditional artist. I love getting my hands dirty with charcoal or paint whenever I can for the endless irregularity and variation that can be found in the mark making. The marks and forms created feel the most expressive, and often the ambiguity of the marks creates a greater opportunity for a creative or original beginning in the ideation phase of a project. When polishing an idea, I often aspire to incorporate personal experiences and observations into my work to bring about a stronger sense of relatability. Whether it be connective to an emotion felt, or even a personification of the world, I regularly try to connect with familiar elements to give a sense of structure to the otherwise chaos of influential beginnings.

As an artist, I pull inspiration from abstraction such as cloud formations or paint blobs to bring about a greater connection to life and its irregularity and unexpected nature. Furtherly as a dancer, I am drawn to fluid but also exaggerated qualities in nature and the translation of these qualities through movement. To challenge myself I look for ways to combine these two points of view in order to find new and interesting angles in approaching artwork. Incorporating subjects that I am not familiar with along with traditional techniques and principles to allow for order in broadening my perspective. Diving into the unknown is often enlightening and can give new purpose or a greater understanding to a subject or idea previously considered. In doing this, I look forward to be surprised by the outcome and find joy in the unexpected.

I commit myself completely to the visual arts to free myself from any insecurity or doubts that I may hold. When I begin a project or even step out onto a stage to perform, I do not acknowledge the voice that asks “am I good enough?” Rather I live in the moment and strive to experience every second of what I do, so that I may in turn inspire others to do the same. I put aside the overwhelming uncertainty of the future along with the possibility of rejection, in order to find clarity on what I as a person have to offer. A charismatic approach to life and the sole aspiration to share my work for others to find joy and be entertained.
